Group Show Highlights ‘Texting’ At West Midtown Gallery

The Fountain Gallery in West Midtown is presenting the group exhibition Texting curated by Suzanne Murphy. The show offers more than 30 works including drawings, paintings, and mixed media installations that all integrate the use of text in one way or another.

One of the most significant works featured is an oil pastel illustration of the late and great Nelson Mandela where his famous quote “It always seems impossible until it is done” is seen at the top. Another highlight of the show is a quirky installation by Davida Adejouma known as Theater of the Absurd where the artist presents a small, open box decorated with an arm and a leg on either side and various knick knacks on the inside depicting what one might see in a circus (i.e. a clown, a gorilla riding an elephant, etc.).

Other notable works in the show are an oil painting by Brenda Faye Collie titled Beautiful Leaf that features poetic text on a white strip of paper that reads “Beautiful leaf on the ground. Silently dying when no one is around.” Susan Baus’ drawing titled Weight of the World depicting a nude woman curled up on the ground with a literal image of the world pressing down upon her with the word “Depression” and on the ground words representing stressful world issues such as “poverty” “homelessness” or “torture” can be seen.

Saint-Tropez Meets Miami Through The Vision Of Szczesny’s Art

Saint-Tropez Meets Miami Through The Vision Of Szczesny’s Art

During Art Bazel week,

The City of Aventura and Addison House is hosting an interesting and eclectic exhibition by internationally renowned artist Stefan Szcesnys who is visiting Miami during the popular Art Bazel week.

The exhibition named Saint Tropez- meets Miami is organized thanks to the efforts of Florian Haffa in collaboration with Addison House bringing together the best in Miami Design and Art.

Addison House, a design and furniture store in Aventura invited it’s guest to a cocktail this past Monday for the opening that was very well attended. The exhibition will be in place until the end of this week for Art lovers to visit and every day between 6 Pm to 9 PM the Artist will be there for meet and greet .

Szczesny’s Art is based on painting on photography and in this particular exhibit is the first time that he uses photo prints on canvas. the artist is inspired by the two cities that occupy a special place in his life. Saint –Tropez and Miami.

We can observe in his paintings he is inspired by the vivid colors of the ocean and the light of the sun, the natural tropical images of the palm trees and the female figure.

His large scale sculptures are mostly in black metal and represent ethereal female figures. I personally find these sculptures attractive and decorative.

The artist gives us his personal travel log where impressionistic descriptions is accompanied by interpretation. The photos Szczesny chooses to paint are on such impressions and represent his distinct personal view of the location he chooses to represent. In this occasion the paintings in this exhibit reflect Szczesny’s view of his two loves Saint- Tropez and Miami. I recommend you visiting Addison House at Aventura and enjoy your senses with the colorful and interesting canvas and sculptures.
